Mr. Hartshorn was loading his bike on the train to go help a fellow church member care for a family member when someone stole his backpack. It had his life in it and he lost his Irlen lenses. Mr. Hartshorn used his Irlen lenses in every setting, from Zoom meetings to interactions in person. Having these glasses allows him to maintain composure over any unexpected overexcitabilities, both in work and at home. These glasses were helpful for Mr. Hartshorn to maintain his normal routines, increase his confidence and engage with the world.
Mr. Hartshorn needs re-testing for his Irlen glasses and new lenses to replace his previous pair.
Mr. Hartshorn was a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) prior to an accident, which caused his processing skills to become delayed. He explains this accident changed the way he engages the world and it has made his life unpredictable. Mr. Hartshorn’s dream job is to be able to care for others. He would love to find a way to work part-time in a medical facility or resume work as a CNA. Mr. Hartshorn wants to contribute to the world in a meaningful way, and he appreciates when others support individuals who have challenges, allowing them to be better people.
